Collection consists of original letters, photostats of letters, printed facsimiles, and autographed envelopes. The majority of letters were written during the 18th and 19th centuries. Letters were written by artists, politicians, authors, and famous local and national personalities of the time. Letters written by organizations, banks, and societies to specific individuals are also included. Some letters were written aboard ship.
