- "ALS written by Sir William Johnson to his son, Sir John Johnson, Jan 26, 1767; copy of an ALS, written in an unidentified hand, from [Ryer?] Schermerhorn and John Glen, Jr., to William Smith, Jun 9, 1766, concerning settlement of petitions for land claimed in part by them and by Smith and Johnson; and a receipt, holograph manuscript, written by Johnson for money received from Josias Swart, May 7, 1772. Johnson's letter, dated at Johnson Hall, was written to his son in England. Johnson discusses news of his creation as a peer and settlement of his land affairs in New York. He briefly discusses Indian relations, including reference to his recommendation of Richard Shuckburgh for Secretary of Indian Affairs; his correspondence with officials in England; and family news. This letter is accompanied by a typed transcript."
