  • "Die wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit dem deutschsprachigen Theater richtet ihr Augenmerk sowohl in der Literaturwissenschaft als auch in der Theaterwissenschaft seit den neunziger Jahren vor-nehmlich auf ästhetische Phänomene. Die Wechselwirkung künstlerischer Praxis mit einem konkreten kulturellen und sozialen Kontext wird dabei in der Regel vernachlässigt. Kunst gilt als autonomes Feld mit eigenen Gesetzmäßigkeiten, deren Selbstreflexion inzwischen zum Kanon künstlerischer Produk-tion gehört, um sich dieser Autonomie stets aufs Neue zu versichern. Die vorliegende Studie untersucht ostdeutsches Theater unter der ausgewählten Perspektive des Sy-stemumbruchs. Sie geht dabei sowohl von der Autonomie des künstlerischen Felds im Sinne Pierre Bourdieus aus, berücksichtigt aber auch den indirekten Einfluss feldexterner Effekte auf die künstleri-sche Produktion, die Bourdieu in seine Theorie sozialer Felder integriert. Kunst unterliegt demnach nicht ausschließlich der Dynamik ihrer Eigengesetzlichkeit, sondern konstituiert sich in indirekter Wechselwirkung mit ihrem sozialen Umfeld"
  • "The main focus of the scientific discussion of German theatre in literature as well as in dramatics since the 1990ies is on aesthetics. The specifity of these texts as plays is mostly not taken into account. The interaction of artistic praxis with the tangible cultural and social context is mostly neglected. Art is re-garded as autonomous field with its own rules where self-reflexion nowadays belongs to the canon of artistic production to continually ensure this autonomy. The present study analyses East German Theatre under the chosen perspective of the overthrow of the system. On the one hand, this study emanates from the autonomy of the artistic field as defined by Pi-erre Bourdieu while on the other hand it takes into account the indirect influence of effects from out-side of the field on the artistic practice that Bourdieu integrates into his theory of social fields. Art therefore is not only influenced by the dynamics of its own rules but is also defined by the indirect in-teraction with its social context"
