Sophie and the Rising Sun

In the year of Pearl Harbor, two cultures collide in an extraordinary love story. When Mr Oto arrives in the sleepy Georgian town of Salty Creek in the spring of 1939, he is soon to discover that it is an uncomfortable place for strangers. Whilst the kind-hearted Miss Ann proudly employs him as her gardener, some of her fellow residents respond with suspicion and prejudice. Sophie, however, is different. She finds herself as intrigued by Oto as he is bewitched by her beauty. Slowly, steadily, their friendship develops ... until the fateful day of 7 December 1941. As the aftershock of Pearl Harbor reverberates, Salty Creek rapidly becomes a dangerous place for anyone Japanese. Everything Oto and Sophie had dreamed of is suddenly under threat.
