Booker T. Washington with Mary McLeod Bethune, Booker T. Washington's daughter Portia Pittman, and other dignitaries (1942); her premier performance at the Metropolitan Opera (1955); as a delegate to the United Nations (1958); receiving awards and honorary degrees including those from the Reveille Club of N.Y. (1958), the NAACP's Spingarn Medal (1939), and Order of African Redemption (1943); her farewell cross-country tour (1964-1965); the celebration in her honor at Carnegie Hall (1977); and photographs of portrait paintings of her by Laura Waring and S. Edmund Oppenheim, a mural of the 1939 Easter performance at the Lincoln Memorial and the U.S. Gold Medallion created in her honor.
