Little Children

Beneath the placid surface of suburbia, the adults are kicking their toys out of their prams ... There's Mary Ann, a super-mom who is already preparing her 4-year-old son for Harvard. Then there's Todd, the handsome stay-at-home-dad. He's trying (for his wife's sake) to pass his bar exam although he doesn't want to be a lawyer. Sarah is a lapsed feminist who isn't quite sure how she ended up being a traditional wife. They all raise their kids in the kind of quiet suburb where nothing ever seems to happen, until one eventful summer when a convicted criminal moves into the neighbourhood and two parents begin an affair, which will take them further than they could ever have imagined.

  • "Perrotta's thirty-ish parents of young children are a varied and surprising bunch. They all raise their kids in the kind of sleepy American suburb where nothing ever seems to happen-at least until one eventful summer, when a convicted child molester moves back to town, and two restless parents begin an affair that goes further than either of them could have imagined."
