John Lyle and Lyle farm
John Lyle made the overland trip to Oregon in 1845 and immediately upon his arrival in Oregon opened the first school in Polk County. Lyle was later clerk of the Provisional Court and of the District Court. He died in 1862 while at the mines in eastern Oregon.
