"Government records consist primarily of minutes and agendas, reports, voting records, attendance records, lists of members and delegates, budgets, proposals, enactments; resolutions, audio tapes of meetings (1974, 1976-1977), minutes and reports of committees, position papers, financial statements, and memos and correspondence generated by meetings of the General Chapter, now known as the Assembly, 1960-1981. This body, composed of the President, her two advisors, six regional coordinators, and members elected by the congregation, meets to elect the President and the Executive Council, and to decide the policies of the congregation. Also, minutes of the Executive Council, 1847-1979; minutes and reports of conferences between Local Superiors (also known as Sister Servants) and Mother Generals, 1948-1966; and reports of community visitations by Mother Loretto Bernard Beagan, 1961-1966. Administrative departments, and their advisory commissions in the areas of communications, education, formation (the process of taking final vows), ongoing development, planning and research, ministry/retirement, and social concerns, are represented by community mailings, 1973-1977, and miscellaneous memos, correspondence, reports, programs, photographs, clippings, newsletters (including THE NEWSLETTER of the Sisters of Charity of New York, 1965-1985), calendars, directories, and minutes."
