http://schema.org/description

  • "Lewis covers Robinson's serious illustrations along with his comic drawings and discusses with humour and understanding the influences that formed his art. He outlines Robinson's life and gives detailed analysis of his work. Today Robinson's serious book illustrations are less well known than his comic drawings but he is probably the most important artist in pen drawing since Aubrey Beardsley. Amongst the sixty or so books that Robinson illustrated were editions of "Don Quixote", "Rabelais", "The Poems of E. A. Poe", Hans Christian Andersen's "Fairy Tales", "The Water Babies", "Twelfth Night" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream". He also wrote and illustrated two book for children, "The Adventures of Uncle Lubin" and "Bill in Minder"."
