Als der Wellensittich beim Käfigputzen verschwindet, baut Papa eine ganz spezielle Vogelfalle im Garten auf, um ihn wieder einzufangen. Und Will, der Träumer, lässt sich im Schulhaus einsperren, als er seine Jacke, die er vergessen hat, holen will. Mama, die sich wegen ihrer Weisheitszahnoperation schonen sollte, kann es nicht lassen, beim Schulfest auf das Ganze zu gehen und mitzuspielen. Doch darüber ist Lucy, die keine Seilspringpartnerin hat, schliesslich froh. Auch in den Ferien hat Lucy keine Freundin, obwohl sie als sehr soziales Wesen die andern zu verkuppeln versteht. Aber schliesslich kommt sie mit dem französischen Mädchen auf dem Spielplatz doch noch in Kontakt, auch ohne Worte. Die vier alltäglichen Situationen sind amüsant, voller Humor und mit liebenswertem Blick auf die Familienmitglieder erzählt. Man schliesst die Quigleys sofort ins Herz und bedauert, dass das Buch schon wieder zu Ende ist. Aber bestimmt gibt es noch Fortsetzungen, denn auch das hier ist bereits der 2. Band.
