Recovery of downed carrier-based aircrews, 1 Apr 67-31 Oct 68
The performance of Search and Rescue (SAR) forces in recovery of carrier-based aircrewmen downed in Southeast Asia is studied. Factors influencing the likelihood of recovery, such as the location of the downing, the type of aircraft lost, and the type of combat mission are investigated. The effects of these factors on SAR operations during the April 1967 - October 1968 period are compared with those of the preceding June 1964 - March 1967 period.
