The Dying Game

All over the city, beautiful women are being murdered, mutilated to death by a stranger known only as The Beauty Queen Killer. Former pageant queens fear for their lives as more women are found dead, a single rose next to their ravaged corpses. It's up to private detective Lindsay McCallister to hunt down the sadistic killer -- and uncover the truth behind these murders before more women are found dead. But what she finds is that these innocent women are mere playthings for an evil game between two wicked men--a game that will only end in more bloodshed.

  • "Play To Win... Play To Die... Now as the body count rises, the rules are changing. A killer will do anything to win. And the only way for Lindsay to stop a madman's twisted game is to play it herself..."
  • "It's the ultimate game. To win, you have to kill. To lose, you have to die. If he's chosen you to play, then it's Game Over...A brutal serial killer is on the loose. Each victim is a former beauty queen, a single rose placed next to their mutilated bodies. The scenes of unimaginable carnage have become familiar to Detective Lindsay McAllister. For the last 5 years, dozens of beautiful women have been slain and lives have been shattered, including Judd Walker whose wife was one of the first victims. But when the killer strikes again Lindsey knows she needs Judd's help. The murderer is getting bolder, faster, and more ruthless. The game has escalated, the rules have changed, the body count is rising...and no one is safe. Praise for Beverly Barton:"CLOSE ENOUGH TO KILL is not for the faint of heart!"

  • "-- Play To Scream. . . The victims are former beauty queens found with a single rose beside their bodies. Lindsay McAllister has seen this signature before, when she was a rookie detective with the Chattanooga PD investigating the death of Judd Walker's wife, a murder that sent the handsome lawyer off the deep end. Now, Lindsay has the brutal task of telling Judd that his wife's killer has struck again, and she's going to need his help to outplay their opponent--because the killer is getting bolder, faster, and more ruthless. The game is escalating, and no one is safe. Play To Die. . . Now as the body count rises, the rules are changing. A killer will do anything to win. • "The victims are former beauty queens, each found with a single rose. It's a scene Detective Lindsay McAllister knows all too well from her rookie days in Chattanooga. She also knows the dead are not the only victims. She's seen grief ravage those left behind, like lawyer Judd Walker. Nontheless, Lindsay now has to dig deep into painful memories to convince Judd that his wife's killer has struck again. She knows she can't win without his help, and the game has escalated. The murderer is getting bolder, faster and more ruthless."@en
