"This subseries consists of materials related to the development, organization, and installation of the exhibition "Marks of Achievement: Four Centuries of American Presentation Silver" held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston from September 19, 1987 to January 3, 1988. Over seven years in preparation, this landmark exhibition focused attention on the history and high aesthetic value of presentation silver produced in the United States since the early seventeenth century. The exhibition gathered together over one-hundred and fifty silver pieces (ranging from domestic utensils to liturgical objects and trophies) and associated working drawings and original designs. Included in the exhibition files are working checklists; condition reports and condition photographs of each object; lender files, which contain loan agreements, correspondence with institutional and private lenders, and historical information concerning the objects loaned; and object files containing detailed assessments of each piece exhibited."
