  • "Once Archmage of Earthsea, Ged is an old man now, his magical powers lost in a struggle to annul a global evil. He meets a young sorcerer named Alder whose wife died young and is lost in the land of death. Longing to return to Alder, she comes to him in his dreams, urging him to join her in the Dry Land where she now resides. Alder's nightmare is more than a personal sorrow. The dead are pulling Alder to them and through him will invade Earthsea. Ged sends Alder to Havnor where he meets Irian, a fierce dragon who shows him the hard way to salvation."
  • "The sorceror Alder fears sleep. He dreams of the land of death, of his wife who died young and longs to return to him so much that she kissed him across the low stone wall that separates our world from the Dry Land - where the grass is withered, the stars never move, and lovers pass without knowing each other. The dead are pulling Alder to them at night. Through him they may free themselves and invade Earthsea." "Alder seeks advice from Ged, once Archmage. Ged tells him to go to Tenar, Tehanu, and the young king at Havnor. They are joined by amber-eyed Irian, a fierce dragon able to assume the shape of a woman." "This group can confront the threat only in the Immanent Grove on Roke. Joining them, Alder, a mender of pots, may be the only one who can mend the world."@en
  • "The next book in the series that started with A wizard of Earthsea - After centuries of peace in Earthsea, danger is threatening again - Not only are the dead seeking to free themselves from the Dry Land and invade Earthsea, but also, the dragons are back, come to claim what they consider is rightfully theirs."
