- "The CFDT (French Democratic Confederation of Labour) Union has switched, between 1970 and 1995, from self-management socialism to non-political reformism in less than a generation. Framed by the rival thesis of "adaptation through continuation" to the economic crisis or "historical betrayal" to neo-liberalism (often attributed to the influence of the Saint-Simonian intellectuals), the transformation comes from a pluridimensional process. Due to specific activist carreers (especially inside the Socialist Party) marked by particular political ordeals and situations, but also by the working class' withdrawal and a swing of balance between the groups and the factions which compose it, the collective choices of the Union which was built on a hybrid identity have shifted to an "inside the market frame" reformism. At the same time, the assertion of a "proposal syndicalism", which echoes the so-named intellectuals, points out the adoption of operational aims in the very way of conceiving and setting the social and political problems. Trough the "cedetist" case, though, we have managed to approach the conversion phenomenon within the articulation of closely related worlds, in this instance the trade-union, the intellectual and the political world."
- "La centrale syndicale CFDT (Confédération française démocratique du travail) est passée, entre 1970 et 1995, du socialisme autogestionnaire au réformisme apolitique en moins d'une génération. Encadrée par les thèses rivales de l' "adaptation dans la continuité" face à la crise économique ou de la "trahison historique" face au néo-libéralisme (souvent imputée à l'influence des intellectuels saint-simoniens), la mutation de la confédération relève en fait d'un processus pluridimensionnel. Du fait de trajectoires militantes (notamment au sein du PS) marquées par des épreuves et des situations politiques particulières, mais aussi d'une défection populaire et d'un basculement des équilibres entre groupes et factions qui la compose, les choix collectifs de la centrale qui s'était construit sur une identité hybride s'infléchissent au fil du temps vers le réformisme "dans le cadre du marché". Parallèlement, l'affirmation d'un "syndicalisme de propositions" qui fait écho aux intellectuels du même nom signale l'adoption d'une visée opérationnelle dans la manière même de concevoir et poser les problèmes sociaux et politiques. A travers l'exemple "cédétiste", on a pu ainsi aborder le phénomène de conversion à l'articulation d'univers connexes, c'est-à-dire en l'occurrence syndicaux, intellectuels et politiques."
