Theoretical problems in solid state and low temperature physics

The major fields in which work was done are (1) superconductivity, (2) properties of liquid helium and He3 -He4 mixtures, (3) electronic structure of solids, (4) plasmas and turbulence in liquids (5) phenomena in the vicinity of magnetic phase transitions, and (6) surface and interface effects. A common theme is application and development of techniques of many-body theory, that is systems of many interacting particles.

  • "Major accomplishments of a research project concerned with theoretical problems in solid state and low temperature physics are outlined. The project, which extended over a 15-year period, was conducted from a many-particle point of view with emphasis on superconductivity, liquid helium, nuclear structure, and electrical conduction in metals and semiconductors.
