The relief of Belsen

In April 1945, two weeks before the end of the Second World War, a British ambulance unit is diverted from the frontline to handle a crisis. On arrival at Bergen-Belsen prison camp, the medics are unprepared for the scale of the catastrophe. Using scripted drama, testimony, and news footage, the television drama depicts the desperate struggle of the medical team to care for the camp's 60,000 inmates who are dying of starvation and disease.
