Sarah Janette Ellis was born near Montpelier, Vermont, 31 March 1832, the daughter of Joel Ellis (1803-1881) and Esther Woodbury Ellis (1800-1843). She was the principal of Osage Academy, Osceola, St. Clair County, Missouri, 1855-1858. She married John Jameson Yeater, a merchant of Osceola, 22 July 1858. John Jameson Yeater was born in Troy, Missouri, in 1831, the son of Charles Honeyman Yeater (1808-1862) and Judith Jameson Yeater (d. 1866). They had six children. He served with the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He died in 1909 at Sedalia, Missouri.

  • "John Ellis, Jr. came to Plymouth on the Mayflower. He was a surveyor, and helped to lay out the town of Sandwich, Massachusetts, and settled there. He married Elizabeth Freeman (b. 1625), second daughter of Edmond Freeman. They had eight sons. He died at Sandwich in 1677. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Vermont and elsewhere."@en

He married Sarah Honeyman in Virginia in 1789. They migrated to Mt. Sterling, Bourbon County, Kentucky, and then to Missouri. They had ten children. He died in Fulton, Missouri, 15 August 1834.
