"It's Thanksgiving and Neal Page (Steve Martin) is looking forward to spending some quality time with the family. On the flight home Neal is seated next to obnoxious salesman Del Griffith (John Candy). When a snowstorm causes their plane to be rerouted, the two are reluctantly united by their misfortune. Thus begins a disastrous chain of events that traverses all forms of public transport and threatens to make Neal miss Thanksgiving all together. Mostly associated with teen coming of age comedies (Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles) this film was John Hughes' first foray into 'adult' comedy. Martin and Candy make an affable odd-couple (initially combative but ending up liking each other) surviving a slew of adventurous mishaps. Amidst the absurdity, the film contains a moral code and minor sermonising about tolerance and acceptance of one's fellow human beings."@en
