European status report on alcohol and health 2010

The disease burden attributable to harmful use of alcohol is significant and in many countries public health problems caused by it represent a substantial health, social and economic burden. Reduction of harmful use of alcohol is becoming a priority area on national, regional and global levels. Alcohol-related harm can be reduced through the implementation of proven alcohol strategies. The report presents the latest data from Europe in the areas of alcohol consumption, harm and responses. Data is presented in consolidated tables and graphs and for each participating country there is a country profile with some of the key indicators from the survey performed in 2009.
