Manuscript, in a single hand, of a record of a journey through England, by way of Bristol, Bath, Salisbury and Ramsey and returning through Winchester, Oxford and Cheltenham, in which the author pays particular attention to churches and the weather. The volume also contains a prose piece on Circassian costume; an extract titled Arabs of the desert, taken from Laborde's Arabia Petraea and accompanied by illustrative watercolor drawings; an extract from Howitt's Rural life in Germany; and an extract on women of Galway from Mrs. S. C. Hall's Ireland. The manuscript also contains numerous sentimental verses, including many by Felicia Hemans, such as The ivy of Kenilworth, accompanied by a pressing of ivy leaves, and The cliffs of Dover, accompanied by a detailed pencil drawing of the cliffs; as well as other poems by Eliza Cook, William Wordsworth, and Charles Swain.
