The volume begins with two biographies of his life, taken from Mark Noble's History of the college of arms (1805) and v. 3 of John Nichols' Literary anecdotes of the eighteenth century (1812-1816). The manuscript also contains copies of Ives' letters to Richard Turner, Rev. James Granger, and Dr. Andrew Ducarel regarding antiquarian artifacts; a collection of autographs; a genealogical tree of Ives of Suffolk; and entries from Ives' journal which describe daily activities such as where he breakfasted and with whom, as well as exhibitions and artifacts he saw. The manuscript concludes with the sale catalogue of of his library, printed in 1777, in which the prices for the books have been written in, as well as total amounts received for each day's sale."
