"A French teacher in a suburban college witnesses daily hardships with students and is even more weakened by the departure of her husband. At a rehearsal theater with one of her classes, she discovers a pistol in one of the student bags. She seizes the gun, which goes off and hurts a student's leg. When he and his fellow gangsters then threaten her life and the life of the other students, she breaks, taking some of her students hostage so she can finally teach a proper lesson on Molière. "Sonia ist am Ende mit ihrem Latein. Eigentlich ist es ihre Aufgabe, den Schülern die Inhalte des Lehrplans zu vermitteln. Doch dazu kommt sie kaum, da sie sich tagtäglich den Großteil der Unterrichtsstunde mit ihren verzogenen Schülern herumschlagen muss. Der Alltag mit den Halbstarken ist gezeichnet von Respektlosigkeit, Autoritätsverlust und schlichter Demütigung. Und prompt erntet Sonia Beleidigungen der schlimmsten Form, wird nicht nur verbal, sondern auch physisch angegriffen. Bei einer kurzen, aber heftigen Auseinandersetzung mit ihrem Schüler Mouss fällt ein Revolver aus seinem Rucksack zu Boden. Sonia konfisziert die Waffe und nutzt die Situation, den Schülern endlich mal den Mund zu verbieten - was sie dann aus Angst auch machen. Hat man also eine Waffe in der Hand, hat man die ganze Bande im Griff! Gut, dann kann die Stunde über Molière ja fortgesetzt werden! Sonia bäumt sich ein letztes Mal auf. Da der Direktor vor dem bitteren Unterrichtsalltag seiner Kollegen eher die Augen verschließt als aktiv etwas an den Verhältnissen zu verändern, weiß Sonia, dass sich nur etwas ändern wird, wenn sie selbst die Fäden in die Hand nimmt.
