  • "Memorial in honor of Maria Karnilova (d. April 20, 2001), a dancer and actor whose long and varied career included performances with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Ballet Theatre in its early years, Broadway musicals (including several works by Jerome Robbins), plays, and operas. She is remembered as a performer and private person by colleagues, creative collaborators, and friends, as well as her doctor Ted Tyberg, her children Katherine and Alexander, and her husband George S. Irving. A film clip from The unsinkable Molly Brown (1964) shows her in a dance number with Debbie Reynolds and other cast members. In a video of a performance at Lucille Lortel's White Barn Theatre in Westport, Conn., in 1997, Karnilova performs dance and song duets with her husband, as well as her solo from "You gotta have a gimmick" from the musical Gypsy. Songwriter John Kander performs "Love, give me love," and George Irving is heard in the song "To my wife," recorded especially for this occasion. The visual material on this tape includes many posters, programs, and still photographs spanning Karnilova's life and career."
