Named for the Chief of the Northern Cheyenne, Morning Star (or Dull Knife), the Dull Knife Raid was a Great Plains battle between the United States Army and the Cheyenne Indians which left the Cheyenne tribe unable to continue fighting in the Great Sioux War of 1876-77.
