Adding value

When companies fail, mismanagement is usually cited as one of the main reasons. The true failure, however, often lies not with managers themselves but with the system by which they are chosen and developed. Many professionals are promoted to management because they excel in a specific skills area, such as engineering or accounting, but are given little or no guidance on how to actually manage.
