- "This book is a result of extensive research into address books, that is, directories, covering Silesia. It begins with a discussion of what has been found - from the early 1700s to 1945 - and where the books can be found as of the year 2010. The alphabetical listing of city and county address books by year and where they are held begins on page 61. The family researcher can find the place of interest in Silesia by using the table of contents or the index starting on page 249 in which also the place names in Polish are cross-referenced (index numbers refer to the consecutive numbers, not page numbers). A second listing of professional address books begins on page 165. These books were published for government officials - which included ministers and teachers, persons in trade, commerce and industry, and large land owners. Once the researcher has found an address book of interest and where it is found, contact information on the library or institute holding the book starts on page 236. This includes, in most cases, the website of the particular institution which allows the user immediate and independent research."
