The town of Alturas in *Halfmoon Ranch* is in Washoe Valley, a part of Nevada. Sheriff Lew Burton finds he has his hands full the gunfighter Mike Ayres, arrives in town. Ayres is not simply visiting. He has inherited a ranch."
