Sixteen authors, from many different backgrounds, offer their observations about American education and about American society in general. The articles focus on educational alternatives in the past and present systems of American education. Subjects covered include: historical perspectives on American education, teacher attitudes toward public education, parent and community views on education, cultural pluralism and education, the funding of public education, voucher systems, parochial education, and other opportunities for educational choice.
