  • "Public health code materials, 1975-1976, 9 in. The public health code required much attention to detail in its framing. To do this the code was written in separate articles and then put together in full working drafts for presentation to the Legislature for consideration. Included here are but a few of the draft articles and two of the full working drafts. While the first proposed health code was introduced in the House of Representatives as HB 6306 and in the Senate as SB 1484 in May of 1976, a great deal of discussion and hearings were subsequently held on it. This 1978 as HB 4070. Much of the following drafts and a more RG 86-79 of the Dept. of Public Health. Arranged alphabetically."
  • "Council's subject files, 1974-1978, 1 ft. 9 in. The subject files of the Public Health Statutes, Revision Project encompass varying facets of the committee's work. The intent, preliminary issues, and project method provide the focus for study. Because of the importance placed on the project, there ere several smaller work groups established. Minutes from several of these workgroups meetings are included as are the minutes of the total project committee. Accompanying these minutes are issues and working papers. To facilitate the identification goals and answers, two retreats were held each in 1975 and 1976. These helped to redirect the project in its revision of the public health statutes. Arranged alphabetically."
  • "Subcommittee's subject files, 1969-1974, 11 in. The subject files of the Legislative Council's subcommittee span a range of materials. While these take in the more general administrative files, correspondence, and memos, they also entail the wider range of work done by the subcommittee and other commissions studying the Mental Health statutes. Of special emphasis are the minutes of a meeting on the Study to Revise the Statutes, at which all three groups were represented and materials were shared with the Legislative Council by the Governor's Commission. Recommendations and reports from these committees submitted to the Legislature led to the proposed Mental Health Code , HB 5684 of 1974. Arranged alphabetically."
  • "In 1969 there were several committees and commissions appointed to review and revise the Mental Health Program and Statute Review Commission established by executive order and Legislative Committee to Revise Mental Health Statutes. For its part in the investigation, the Legislative Council appointed a subcommittee on the Study to Revise the Michigan mental Health Statutes. The records included here chronicle this subcommittee's investigation."
  • "In 1974 the public health statutes also came under the Legislative Council's scrutiny. This project not only involved the Legislative Council, but the Department of Public Health and a Public Health Statute Review Commission created by executive order. The study was to be handled under the direction of the Legislative Council. The records we have received from the Legislative Council are only a small part of the work done on the project. These are materials from the project sent to members of the commission, and they may be the council's record as a directing agency. The bulk of the project's work was handled by the Department of Public Health, and it is from this Department that the core of the project's work has been received by the archives. To access these files see Public Health RG 86-79."
