He married Ruth Martin (1844-1909) 23 October 1879. They had one child. He married Victoria Hammond Fouts (1842-1922) 11 November 1912. He served in the First Pennsylvania Volunteeer Cavalry during the Civil War. He died in 1926 in Central City, Nebraska.
