Stan Brakhage hand-painted films

Originally interested in abstract expressionist painting, Stan Brakhage steadily completed over 200 films in forty years. His project of recreating "closed eye vision" in the camera led him to these entirely hand-painted films which are so well-knit and ultimately so rich that there is no need for sound.
