According to Mary

Long ater the death of Christ, the apostles seek out Mary Magdalene. They have come for her memories of Jesus, as she was closest to and most loved by him. Thus begins her story: her childhood and the murder of her parents; her education and service at a brothel; her first love. Mary recounts her intimate experience with Jesus of Nazareth--of meeting this remarkable man, their all-too-human relationship, and his journey toward destiny. Later, when she realizes the apostles are intentionally altering Christ's teachings to suit their own goals, Mary struggles to spread theundist.

  • "Long after the death of Christ, Mary Magdalene lives tranquilly, trying to forget that Jesus chose a cruel death, not life with her. But a visit from the apostles Peter and Paul persuades her to record everything she can remember. Fair-haired and blue-eyed, Mary describes how, even as a child she felt an outsider in her Jewish community. Then she witnesses the terrible slaughter of her family by the Romans. She runs for her life and is saved by Leonidas - a Roman soldier - who takes Mary to friends at a 'house of pleasure', where she is cared for and loved. Then, at twenty, she meets a young man from Nazareth and Mary's course is changed irrevocably."@en

Marianne Fredriksson."
