"The scheming ventriloquist Prof. Echo, disguised as Grandma O'Grady, heads a robbery ring that includes a feeble-minded strongman and a cigar-chomping little person, the latter masquerading as Grandma's grandbaby."@en
"Based on a novel by Tod Robbins, who provided the source material for Freaks (1932), this is more muted but bizarre nonetheless with a weird 'family' of carnival refugees - Chaney's ventriloquist in drag as Granny, Linow's moronic strongman and Earles' malevolent midget passing as a baby - involved in ingenious criminal activities. Made first in 1925 as a silent film by Tod Browning (also starring Chaney and Earles) this sound remake is not as tightly directed but does reveal Chaney's vocal talents in providing multiple voices for his dual characterisation as ventriloquist and sweet old woman. It was his only sound film - he died of throat cancer less than a month after the film's release."@en
