"Moonport presents a solid historical analysis of one of the twentieth century's most impressive technological achievements: the building and operation of the launch complex in Florida from which the United States undertook its Apollo lunar expeditions. Using official documents, letters, reports, and memoranda, the authors have provided a lucid account of the highly complex process of construction and operation at the Kennedy Space Center. As this manuscript was being prepared, these same facilities were being modified to serve as the launch site for Apollo's successor, the Space Shuttle."
