E.M.B. Classics Drifters, Industrial Britain, Song of Ceylon

John Grierson coined the term "documentary" and then went on to found the British Documentary Film Movement. His filmmaking career began at the Empire Marketing Board. Three examples are presented here: Drifters, showing the British herring industry; Industrial Britain, started by Robert Flaherty and finished by Grierson; and The song of Ceylon, produced by Grierson and directed by his protege, Basil Wright.
