""Le film retrace la rencontre entre Louis XIV, Lully et Molière. Louis XIV a une passion pour la danse et c'est Lully qui lui permet de la développer. L'expression "Roi Soleil" vient en partie d'un ballet dans lequel Louis XIV était représenté tel un soleil entouré des ministres, symbole des planètes. Lully est un Italien né à Florence, il vient à la cour grâce au Duc de Guise qui veut un professeur d'italien pour la princesse de Montpensier. En 1653, il devient compositeur à la cour. Il travaille avec Corneille et Molière et crée l'opéra à la française. Il meurt à 55 ans d'un accident : sa canne servant à battre la mesure lui transperce le pied. Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, dit Molière, est introduit à la cour par Monsieur (Philippe d'Orléans, frère du roi). Il monte des comédies ballets, il collabore avec Lully pour 9 comédies pendant 9 ans. La pièce Les Précieuses ridicules rend Molière très célèbre.
