An account of Nick Danziger's adventures during an eighteen month journey in Asia. Travelling without permission, in disguise as an itinerant Muslim, he became a legend long before he reached Peking. He learnt to pray like a Muslim and pass as a local, and was the first foreigner to cross from Pakistan into the closed western province of China since the 1949 revolution.
