Scenic byways advisory committee report
Section 1047 of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) directed that the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation establish a National Scenic Byways Advisory Committee to assist him in developing a national scenic byways program. The Secretary appointed a 17-member committee including representatives of Federal agencies, local and State governments, and related interest groups. Of the 147 recommendations contained in this report, seven were resolved by votes of the Committee. A summary of these votes is found in Appendix A. Each member of the Advisory Committee was offered the opportunity to provide an individual supplementary statement. Three members provided statements and these are found in Appendix B.
