The period of desegregation in the history of education was a vivid example of a time when parent/school relations were in crisis."

(6) If given the opportunity again, rather than busing minority children, participants would prefer the two-way busing of children into their neighborhood schools, believing that while integration was necessary, the neighborhood lost its sense of community when the schools closed."
