This thesis examines Adorno's relation to the modern ethos of freedom as developed through critique of six other mondern philosophies of freedom: the 'logics of freedom' enunciated by Kant and Hegel; the 'aesthetics of existence' presented by Nietzsche and Heidegger and the 'politics of truth' given voice by Habermas and Foucault.
