Presented are the number of degrees granted by academic field and sex for public and private institutions. One tables presents an aggregation of the 50 states and the District of Columbia; a second table is a regional aggregation of the 14 states in the south (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia); and a table is given for each of the 14 southern states.
