Darwin's lost paradise

Charles Darwin is one of mankind's greatest thinkers. His extensive scientific research, which culminated in the publication of the theory of evolution in 1859, shook man's age-old belief in being the chosen ones, the fruit of 'divine creation,' and proved that man had developed through a long evolutionary process. Many of the observations which brought Darwin to this new and shocking conclusion were made during his long voyage onboard the Beagle, a British ship.

  • "To commemorate two hundred years since the birth of Charles Darwin, this two part series combines dramatic reconstruction of Charles Darwin's voyage around the globe onboard The Beagle, from 1831 to 1836 (which provided his scientific observations culminating in the publication of the Theory of Evolution in 1859), with contemporary scientific analysis of his findings that both prove and disprove his understanding of evolutionary theory. Well known contemporary scientists, located in sites relevant to The Beagle's voyage, including Australia illustrate Darwin's research procedures and evaluate them in light of their own investigations."
  • ""The story of Charles Darwin's great voyage onboard the Beagle is a story of initiation and discovery. It remains one of the most significant scientific expeditions undertaken in history for it was during the voyage that Darwin developed his theory of evolution. This is the story of the journey, Darwin's personal transformation and the scientific revolution it ignited. The film investigates the scientific research and thought in the fields of geology, zoology and biology, which have been inspired by Darwin's discoveries. Contemporary scientists illustrate Darwin's thought process and research procedures and evaluate them in the light of today's scientific findings/"--Container."
