The duty of nations : a sermon, delivered on the first Thursday of November, 1809, being a day of public thanks-giving appointed by the Reformed Presbyterian Church in the United States of America

"'The Duty of Nations' begins with the premise that nations, like the church, are creatures of God. Their origin is discovered not at the hands of men, as asserted by the deist founders, but by the hand of God, Who has appointed their boundaries and durations. As His creatures, composed of intelligent and responsible men, they are to be accounted moral persons, possessing corporate identities, complete with obligation to serve the Almighty. McMaster proceeds to demonstrate that nations, like men, bear a responsibility to assert their moral authority and power on behalf of what is true and just. Nations which fail to act in accordance with the teachings of Scripture, which fail to submit their authority to Christ, are in rebellion to God, and forfeit any just claim to the conscientious obedience of a Christian people. But, McMaster continues, there is a day coming when Messiah will prevail and all nations will submit to his rule."--From back cover.
