  • "Voguing is a distinctive Black/Latino gay dance form that originated in Harlem 25 years ago and which appropriates the modeling poses from fashion magazines, most notably Vogue. In this documentary profile, the dancers, who are members of rival "houses," are taped as they perform in the lively competitions that parody mainstream fashion shows. Here, contestants, boosted by boisterous cheering sections, are rated for movement, appearance and costume. The dancers are also seen at New York City's Hudson River piers where they gather to gossip and practice routines."
