Shedding the cocoon the LaGena Lookabill Greene story

"LaGena Lookabill Greene grew up in North Carolina and epitomized the 'good girl next door.' She graduated in the top 1% of her high school class, then received honors and a BA with a double major in Psychology and Dramatic Art from the University of North Carolina. As the first Miss Hawaiian Tropic USA, she traveled around the world and was featured as a model in 'Glamour', 'Seventeen', 'People' and 'Teen Magazine.' Her career continued in LA as a successful television and film actress. Her blossoming career was cut short by the devastating news LaGena was infected with HIV in 1986. Her boyfriend knew he had AIDS, but neglected to tell her. He mysteriously disappeared after a six year friendship and a marriage proposal and went into hiding before dying. In 1995, LaGena went 'public' after living in secrecy with AIDS for eight years. This inspirational story chronicles LaGena's journey from promise and dreams, to grief and despair, from anger, rage and a sucicide attempt to ultimately acceptance, peace, hope and grace. LaGena's message of abstinence and her faith in God combined with interviews, personal home video, acting clips and childhood photos convey her compelling story."--Container. Her husband Daniel Greene, her parents Jackie & Gene Lookabill, and brother Gene Lookabill, Jr, are also interviewed.
