Individuals with special mental conditions are described -- the psychopath, the alcoholic, the drug addict, the sex offender, the mentally retarded adult, and the senile. The authors emphasize that most of the conditions are illnesses and should be dealt with in a careful and noncritical manner. Also included is a section on the police officer's personal problems which may result from the special stresses placed upon him because of the nature of his work. Although written specifically for the policeman, this publication might benefit any others whose work involves contact with abnormal personalities.
