The pearl and the pumpkin

It was almost Halloween and Joe Miller was busily carving Jack-lanterns for the party. Every year, Joe's uncle, Farmer Pringle gave a Hallow E'en party in the big barn for the whole village. He'd given Joe permission to carve 21 Jack-lanterns for himself and 20 of his friends so they could have a hobgoblin parade. When the party started, the boys were not there, but shortly, the barn doors opened and the parade began. His cousin, Pearl noticed that Joe didn't have the big pumpkin he'd carved for himself. The tale he related was hard to believe. Then, when Joe took a turn bobbing for apples, something pulled him into the tub of water. When they pulled Joe out, he was followed by the Ancient Mariner, and that was just the beginning of the magic.
