Radioterapija karcinoma epifarinksa
- "In the five year period (1977-1982), 38 patients were treated for the epipharyngeal cancer. The majority were male (76%) between 40 and 70 years old. In 23 (60%) the cancer was poorly differentiated, in 15 (40%) well differentiated. The majority of the patients were in the advanced stage (III and IV - 37 patients, only one in stage I). The patients were primarily treated by radiotherapy (teleocobalt) in the dose of 60 Gy in 50% of the patients. The other half received lower doses (10 less than 55 Gy), and only one received 70 Gy by classical fractions. Radical neck dissection was performed for residual neck nodes. Adjuvant chemotherapy was administered in cases of poorly differentiated squamous carcinoma, as well as in cases with local recurrence and/or distant metastases. Two year survival was 45%, three year 42% and five year 21%. Other radiotherapy techniques are duscussed concerning the treatment improvement and diminishment of irradiation sequelae."@hr
