Fuel grade ethanol by solvent extraction : final subcontract report
This report summarizes final results for ethanol recovery by solvent extraction and extractive distillation (SEED), discusses the comparative economics of the two processes, and summarizes the economic analyses for the combined process. Although the use of the SEED process for the recovery of ethanol enhances the economics of gasohol production using fermentation, the benefits are not yet sufficient for entry into the current market. The process was found to be technically feasible.
